FAQs

1. What makes Daimyo different than other BJJ academies?

At Daimyo Academy, our focus goes far beyond simply teaching techniques. Our goal is to develop strong, confident individuals both on and off the mats.

Our students benefit from:

• Experienced coaches dedicated to mentoring each student

• A structured curriculum that develops skills step by step

• A strong focus on discipline, mindset, and personal growth

• A team culture that promotes respect, leadership, and support

We are proud to develop students who excel not only in martial arts, but also in their character, work ethic, and confidence in everyday life.

Our mission is to help create champions on and off the mats.

2. Do you offer free trial classes?

Yes! We offer two free trial classes so new students can experience our academy and see if our programs are the right fit for them.

This gives students the opportunity to:

• Meet our coaches

• Experience a real class

• Learn about our training environment

• See how our programs work firsthand

No experience is necessary. Our coaches will guide you through the entire process and make sure you feel comfortable from your very first class.

If you’re interested in trying a class, simply contact us to schedule your free trial.

3. What should my child wear to their first class?

For your child’s first class, we recommend comfortable athletic clothing such as shorts, leggings, sweatpants, or a t-shirt. The goal is simply for them to be able to move comfortably during training.

If your child decides to continue training, they will eventually need a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu uniform (Gi), but for the first class this is not required.

If needed, we can loan a uniform for the trial class so your child can experience the class the same way our students train.

We also recommend bringing:

• A water bottle

• Comfortable clothes for training

• A positive attitude and readiness to have fun

Our coaches and staff will guide your child through the entire process to make sure they feel safe, welcomed, and excited to train.

4. How many classes per week should my child attend?

For most students, we recommend attending 2–3 classes per week. This allows children to consistently build their skills while still balancing school, family time, and other activities.

Students who are interested in competition or accelerated development may attend more classes per week as recommended by their coaches.

The most important factor is consistency. Regular training helps students develop confidence, discipline, and technical understanding over time.
